Executive Committee

  • The President of NOMAnash shall be its Chief Executive Officer and shall have the responsibility and authority for the day-to-day administration of the affairs of the organization under the general supervision of the Executive Committee and shall have such other powers and perform such other duties as the Executive Committee may from time to time prescribe. The President shall be a registered architect.

  • The Vice President shall have such powers and perform such duties as the Executive Committee may from time to time prescribe. In the absence or inability of the President, the Vice President shall be designated by the Executive Committee to perform the duties of the President, and when so acting, shall have all the powers of, and shall be subject to all restrictions upon the President. The Vice President shall be a registered architect.

  • The Vice President-Elect shall serve as apprentice to the President and Vice President. The Vice President-Elects are not required to be registered architects and are encouraged to be intern architects. Vice President-Elects shall move into the Vice President seat at end of term via run off if required, if at the time for re-elections, the Vice President-Elect is a licensed architect.

  • The Secretary shall keep, or cause to be kept, minutes of the meetings of the Executive Committee sign minutes of these meetings and other instruments requiring the signature of the Secretary; and perform other duties incident to the office of the Secretary.

  • The Treasurer shall make financial reports at each monthly meeting of the Executive Committee and general body meetings, cause independent audits of the books and financial records, and perform the entire duties incident to the office of the Treasurer. The Treasurer shall be the accounting officer of NOMAnash and shall keep full and accurate accounts of all financial transactions in books belonging to NOMAnash and shall pay funds only as authorized.

  • The Parliamentarian shall maintain order, interpret the By-Laws and perform other normal duties of Parliamentarian according to the Robert Rules of Order at meetings.

The Executive Committee of the Organization is the governing body, consisting of the President, Vice-President, Regional Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Parliamentarian. The committee shall be responsible for transaction of the business of NOMAnash in the interim of scheduled general meetings of the organization. The Executive Committee manages, controls and directs the affairs and property of the organization. It will also act as the Finance Committee.

Committees

Committee heads other than that of the Executive Committee shall be appointed by or approved by the Chapter President. Such appointment or approval may be reversed by majority vote of the Executive Committee. All members are required to serve on at least one committee.

  • The Finance Committee shall consider and recommend means of securing adequate income, recommend an annual budget to the Executive Committee, and advise the Executive Committee concerning investments and other financial business.

    The Business and Commerce Committee connects the chapter to groups such as the AIA, Nashville Chamber of Commerce, Urban League, Civic Design Center, Urban Land Institute (ULI), BOMA, Metro Nashville Government, ect. This committee tracks local, state, and national current events in the profession. It also works with past organization leadership to advise on necessary advocacy measures to be approved by the Executive Committee and/or General Body. The committee also works with the Communications/Public Relations Committee Chair to draft mass and printed media communications.

  • The Membership Committee shall receive and review all new applications for membership. Approval of membership is orchestrated at the National level. The committee shall also devise ways and means to increase the membership of NOMAnash.

    The Activities Committee is responsible for organizing fun and/or educational outings for NOMAnash membership.

  • The Communications/Public Relations Committee shall: develop and administer marketing strategies and materials; administer the NOMAnash website and social media; and prepare public relations announcements to mass and printed media.

  • The Professional Development Committee recommends and administers professional development workshops and presentations as approved by the Executive Committee. It also administers continuing education programs for professional members and manages the annual architecture tours program.

  • The Community Advocacy Committee recommends and administers community service projects; develops and administers community outreach and youth education programs; and administers academic scholarship programs.

    The Historical Committee is to have deep insight in the architectural pulse of Nashville as it relates to minority architects. The committee would be in charge of hosting public presentations on minority architects contributions to the architectural culture of Nashville as well as releasing related publications and internal record documents.
