MC WINBUSH III MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Legacy is not what I did for myself. It's what I'm doing for the next generation. - Vitor Belfort

The MC Winbush III Memorial Scholarship was established by members of the National Organization of Minority Architects Nashville Chapter, in memory of MC Winbush III, who was a founding member of the chapter. MC was a native of West Tennessee and graduated from the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor of Architecture in 2010. After graduation, he relocated to the Nashville area to pursue his career in design.

MC worked and served diligently in his community by helping aspiring architects gain knowledge of the design fundamentals. MC embodied strength, determination, and tenacity no matter the obstacles set before him. He always had a spirit to help others achieve their dreams and goals. Unfortunately, in 2018 MC’s lifelong dream to become a licensed architect was suddenly cut short due to a rare illness.

In 2018, members of NOMAnash voted to establish this scholarship in memory of MC Winbush III in recognition of his dedicated service to his community and advocacy for young minority designers. This scholarship recognizes the significant cost implications of the architecture and interiors design program and is intended to help defray the cost associated with school supplies, printing, books, technology, and testing materials.  The scholarship is awarded to qualifying individuals that are active paid members of the UTK NOMAS Chapter, Belmont NOMAS Chapter, and TSU NOMAS Chapter seeking a Bachelors or Masters in Architecture or Interior Design or a Minority Emerging Professional paid NOMA Member. One (1) recipients will be awarded a $1,000.00 dollar scholarship ($500 for fall and spring) to use toward school supplies. One (1) emerging professional will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship to use toward ARE exams or testing materials.
